There has always been a unique bond between humans & animals, especially dogs who have since time immemorial helped to keep a cheerful atmosphere in the house. Different pets have different effects on the house & its inhabitants as per Vastushastra.

Manjushree Ahirrao, Co-Founder Vastu Raviraj highlights Vastu Tips that we need to keep in mind while keeping pets at home:

Place your pet’s bed in the northwest north or east direction to keep them cheerful, well-behaved & happy. These are the directions from where positive energy flows into the home. Southeast and south-west directions should be avoided as they can make them restless & unhealthy. Dogs represent protection & loyalty, they bring positive energy and good health to the other members of the house so for bungalow dog kennel should be placed at the entrance of the house.
The cow is considered to be a ‘Mata’ in Hindu tradition and also believed that it is emotionally the closest animal to mankind as we drink her milk & use urine & cow dung in various rituals. This not only heals us with her medicinal values but also helps in getting rid of sorrow & pain. Placing the cow in a North-West or East direction is ideal as per Vastushashtra.
Parrots are regarded as lucky as per Vastushashtra. Parrots should be kept in the North direction. Parrots can sharpen the memory of kids and spread love between members of the house.
Love birds are also tamed by humans and keeping their cage in the NW or North-East or East direction is most ideal.
Horses display power & prestige, those who own horses do exceedingly well in life and also have a successful career. A Horse should be placed in the west or northwest direction of the house.
Fishes in homes as pets have been regarded as animals that bring good luck, good health & prosperity. They should be placed in the North-East or East-Southeast direction. This will also reduce anxiety and depression amongst occupants of the house.
A turtle tank should be kept in the North direction as it is considered auspicious as per Vastushashtra. It helps to bring wealth, good luck & prosperity to the house.
If someone has a black colored dog as a pet, it will help to minimize the ill effects of the Rahu, Ketu & Saturn planets.

Having and caring for a pet is one of the easiest good deeds that we can do. It not only helps the pets but also helps in keeping the environment cheerful and adhering to the above-mentioned points will increase the benefits manifold.
